The new runway currently under construction at the Sunshine Coast Airport will allow direct flights from the Pacific, Asia and all over Australia — in fact, it will revitalise the whole economy and provide many new sustainable jobs. And Warana is only 15 minutes drive away.
The proposed airspace and flight path design was developed in accordance with the Environmental Impact Statement, which was subject to extensive community consultation between 2012 and 2015
The proposed airspace changes will not affect the collection of rainwater, and emissions will be well below Environmental Protection Policy air quality objectives. The noise level should be lower than 75 decibels, similar to that under the current approach flight path near Cotton Tree and less than the noise of average street traffic.
The Sunshine Coast Airport currently caters for up to 17 jet passenger aircraft per day.
Sunshine Coast Council, Airservices Australia and Sunshine Coast Airport are committed to communicating and engaging with all stakeholders on the flight paths and airspace architecture for the new runway, and Air Inspect Australia will also do anything they can to help.
The new runway is on schedule and so, RTI Connectivity Pte. Ltd. have announced, is the construction of the Japan-Guam-Australia South Cable System (JGA South), which should be commercially available by the end of 2019. This will be the first new cable ever on the east coast of Australia outside Sydney.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson says “Our Sunshine Coast is fast becoming a digital leader and the submarine cable network will help position our region as a key digital trading location from Australia.”
RTI Australian Director David Yuile says “Sub-sea cables are a vital link for Australia to the rest of the world for commerce and international trade. JGA South will add much-needed protection and important diversity to enable faster and more direct connectivity with the all-important Asian and US markets.”
When the JGA South becomes operational, it will provide a diverse route to the US West Coast and the fastest path to Hong Kong and Tokyo, providing a significant stimulus for industry in Queensland.
Air Inspect Australia are poised to benefit from the extra demand for drones.
